How we check

NewsVio does not give its own opinion. Every report shows the sources we found and the tools we used, so you can verify the result yourself.

01/

Verdicts

We never show a verdict without evidence from an official source, a recognised fact-checker or a major news outlet.

02/

Tools

  1. Tool 01Google Fact Check ToolsFinds reviews already published by recognised fact-checkers.
  2. Tool 02Gemini with Google SearchFinds live reporting about the claim. Only the sources it cites are kept, and every link is checked.
  3. Tool 03GDELTShows which news outlets covered the story in the last 30 days.
  4. Tool 04WikipediaBackground on the people, places and organisations mentioned.
  5. Tool 05RDAPHow old the website behind a link is (brand-new sites are a warning sign).

Each report lists the steps that actually ran, for example: Searched Google Fact Check Tools for existing reviews; Searched Google Fact Check Tools for reviews of this image; Checked that candidate reviews cover the same claim.
